You can now download the SmartCons’s Optimiser Log Viewer for free. We recommend the Planning Run Monitor in IBP to explore and analyze logs.
However, this tool is especially useful for reviewing logs where the Generate Data for Planning Run Monitor option was not set to Yes.
You can learn how to download trace files from application jobs and details on input and output tables by reading the blog Decrypting SAP IBP Optimiser Logs.
After downloading the trace files, which are now typically in binary format, you’ll need to convert them to a text file before using the analyzer.
Here’s how to use the files for analysis.
- File 1: bin2txt.exe – This utility converts binary log files into text files. To use it:
- Save the file in a <local folder>.
- Open the command prompt in Windows and change the directory to <local folder>.
- Run the command:
bin2txt <SOPOPTFILENAME.zip>
. - This will generate a text file in the same folder named <SOPOPTFILENAME_TEXT.zip>.
- File 2: Log Analyser Excel – This Excel tool allows you to map the input, output, and mapping text files from the generated zip file. Simply select the table you want to view for detailed analysis and click on extract tables.
When downloading, follow these steps to ensure you unblock and enable them, as Microsoft blocks macros by default:
- Unblock the File:
- After downloading the file, navigate to the folder where it’s saved.
- Right-click on the file and select Properties.
- In the General tab, look for a checkbox labeled Unblock under the Security section.
- Check the Unblock box and click Apply.
- Click OK to close the Properties window.
- Enable Macros in Excel:
- Open the file in Excel.
- If you see a yellow banner at the top of the Excel window with a message about macros being disabled, click on the Enable Content button.
- This will activate the macros within the file, allowing you to use all features as intended.
This is how the end Excel sheets will look like.
