SAP IBP Sneak Preview 2408 Release

As IBP sneak preview of 2408 release is out on June 24 2024. Although the Sneak preview has disappointed in area of Time Series Supply Planning where there is no new development at all, there are still interesting developments coming possibly. Let’s walkthrough them together –

• Job scheduling with One click

Allows flexibility to save frequently used job definitions and trigger them from both Planner workspace and Monitor Application jobs with single click, the new functionality can definitely help save some time for users

• Enhancements to Planner Workspaces

There are several noticeable improvements in this space like ability to setup formulas, calculate key figure totals and even apply conditional formatting to key figure values. Additionally, more options have been provided to filter the data in planning workspace.

Looking at above developments it seems that SAP is moving in direction to make Planner workspace as the main front end for planners

• Setting Lot-Size Impact

Lot sizes play an important role in determining the recommended safety stock value, with the new release it will be possible using a parameter to switch on/off the impact of Lot sizes on Recommended Safety stock calculation. The new parameter can be switched on/off inside Inventory Profile app.

• Characteristics-Based Planning

Well this was one of the most awaited feature, SAP is now finally coming up with Characteristic based planning solution in OBP. Once released this would definitely help lot of customers from industries like Fashion, Automobile etc

Please note that this feature in OBP will only be supported by Finite Heuristic.

• Multiple Production Versions in Subcontracting

With this new development it would be possible to integrate Subcontracting purchase info records having multiple production versions assigned to it. This feature was supported by SAP APO and now will also be available in OBP.

Please note that this feature in OBP will only be supported if you are using SAP7F Planning area.
